1895年2月，北洋海军在刘公岛作战失利，提督丁汝昌自杀后，灵柩暂时放置于龙王庙的西厢房，后运回他的家乡安徽巢湖。刘公岛的百姓为了纪念丁将军设立纪念室，又称丁公祠。

　　In February, 1895, Peiyang navy failed to fight on Liugong Island. After Admiral Ting Ju-chang committed suicide, his coffin was placed in western wing-room of Dragon King Temple temporarily, and later was carried back to his hometown Chaohu, Anhui. In order to commemorate Admiral Ting, the common people on Liugong Island built Dinggong Shrine herein.
