Weihai Naval Academy is currently the only naval academy in the Qing Dynasty that has been preserved relatively intact. It was built and opened in 1890 with a four-year curriculum. Admiral Ding Ruchang served as the general manager of the academy.

After entering, on the left is the office area for foreign teachers, and on the right is the office area for Chinese teachers. Further ahead are the scene reconstructions of classrooms and dormitories. This school is a military school that absorbs advanced school-running experience from China and foreign countries. The Qing government also allocated four ships for the school to practice, so that students can learn book knowledge while also practicing guns and cannons, which is unmatched by other schools.
In 1894, the Sino-Japanese War broke out and the school was closed. The only buildings left at present are the theater and the gate.
